Pawar, Murtaza star for IOC

Bangalore : Rajesh Pawar (five for 87) and Murtaza Hussain (four for 80) helped Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) snatch a 33-run victory over ONGC in a KSCA All India invitation cricket tournament quarterfinal that concluded here on Thursday.

Trailing IOC's 389, ONGC was bowled out for 356 though the quartet of Gagan Khoda (73), Radhey Shyam Gupta (57), Rawat (46) and Rizwan Shamshad (45) promised much.

In the other quarterfinals, Sanmar Chemplast defeated Orissa CA by five wickets while Associate Banks scored a seven-wicket victory over Indian Airlines.

The scores (quarterfinals): Orissa CA 222 in 72.5 overs lost to Sanmar Chemplast 225 for five in 57.5 overs (Yashpal Singh 72 n.o., Raja Ali 50 n.o., Dinesh Mongia 40).

Indian Oil Corporation 389 for six in 100 overs bt ONGC 356 in 98.1 overs (Gagan Khoda 73, R.S. Gupta 57, Rawat 46, Rizwan Shamshad 45, Rajesh Pawar five for 87, Murtaza Hussain four for 80).

Indian Airlines 205 in 73.5 overs lost to Associate Banks 206 for three in 66.1 overs (Vijay Madyalkar 65, Daniel Manohar 60).
