CHENNAI: Rainfall occurred at a few places over Tamilnadu. Isolated rainfall occurred over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka. Mainly dry weather prevailed over Lakshadweep and dry weather prevailed over Kerala and Rayalaseema.

Aranthangi (Pudukottai dt.) and Nilakottai (Dindigul dt.) recorded heavy rainfall of 11 and 7 centimetres respectively.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimetres are: Karaikal, Kumbakonam, Orathanadu, Tirukattupalli and Tiruvidaimaruthur (all Thanjavur dt.) and Chidambaram (Cuddalore dt.) 6 each, Lalgudi (Tiruchirapalli dt.), Kodavasal (Tiruvarur dt.), Bapatla 4 each, Papanasam and Tiruvaiyaru (both Thanjavur dt.), Alankudi (Pudukottai dt.), Watrap (Virudhunagar dt.), Kodaikanal, Parangipettai, Nannilam (Tiruvarur dt.) 3 each.

Forecast (valid until Saturday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, coastal Andhra Pradesh, coastal and south interior Karnataka. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Rayalaseema, Telangana, Kerala, Lakshadweep and north interior Karnataka.
