Uttaranchal Congress leader postpones fast

NEW DELHI:
Congress leader Dhirendra Pratap on Wednesday said he decided to put off his hunger-strike, now that the Centre was planningto bring in a bill to change the name of Uttarnchal to Uttrakhand.
The Uttranchal leader said he met Congress president Sonia Gandhi who asked him not to proceed with the hunger-strike since the Government would bring in the bill soon.
The party had made it a poll promise and with the elections duenext year, it was necessary to change the name.
