KANNUR: The regional committee of the Kerala Private College Teachers' Association (KPCTA), Kannur University, has said flayed the move of the new Syndicate to review the decisions of the previous Syndicate on establishment of various faculties and recruitment. The meeting on Thursday said the move was against the statutes of the university. Terming the new Syndicate's decision as misuse of power, the meeting said that only the Vice-Chancellor of the university had the authority to examine complaints, if any, about the Syndicate's decisions. The Vice-Chancellor was colluding with the new Syndicate, the meeting alleged. A press release issued by association general secretary Tom Joseph said the Syndicate's decision to revoke the Vice-Chancellor's order extending the term of the Director of the School of Distant Education was against the interests of the university. The association said it would disrupt the functioning of university departments if posts in such departments to be held by teachers were entrusted to non-teachers even on a temporary basis, he said.
