Dancing with the stars

Bringing together a chef who has people eating out of his hand, a television anchor who simply loves to grill her guests on controversies and a flamboyant cricketer who captained the Indian side in a One Day International along with some other well-known personalities is Sony Entertainment Television's new dance show, "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa: Dancing With The Stars", that goes on air on September 7.

Getting personalities from the field of films, fashion, sports and music to perform with professional dance partners on a highly competitive stage, the show will be aired every Wednesday and Thursday.

Produced by Synergy Communications and Theatre Red, the show's format is owned by the BBC and it has been a huge success across 27 countries. In its "desi" version, the show stars Ajay Jadeja, Mona Singh, Sanjeev Kapoor, Pooja Bedi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Rati Agnihotri, Akashdeep Sehgal and Shweta Salve.

The panel of judges comprises renowned filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan and accomplished actress Shilpa Shetty. The show will hosted by Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi.

Monisha Shah, Director of Emerging Territories, BBC Worldwide, says: "The show is one of the BBC's most successful entertainment programmes. It has swept global audiences off their feet and has become a blockbuster in every continent. With its wonderful combination of glamour, talent and passion, we are especially excited that Sony has taken BBC Worldwide's format and tailored it for the Indian audience." -- Madhur Tankha
