Easy for Vizag, Nizamabad

VISAKHAPATNAM: Host Visakhapatnam blanked Warangal 3-0 in the inaugural match of the State inter-district senior football championship at the Police Stadium here on Thursday.

A brace scored by Sitarama Raju within five minutes of the start put Visakhapatnam in command. Warangal did put up a fight but Ashok scored in the 25th minute of the second half to make it 3-0.

Meanwhile, Kishore and Mathews scored in either half to give Nizamabad a comfortable 2-0 win over Karimnagar.

The 17 participating teams have been divided into four pools in the league-cum-knockout tournament. — Special Correspondent
