B.R. Wadappi
DHARWAD: Veteran Kannada writer and winner of Rajyotsava Award Bhimarao Raghavendra Wadappi (92) passed away here on Thursday. His funeral was attended by several literary figures including Channavir Kanavi. Born in 1914, Wadappi completed his master's degree in Kannada literature from Mumbai University. He worked for thirty years as a Kannada teacher. Mr. Wadappi began his literary career in 1957 with the publication of an anthology of stories titled "Jeevana Ranga", which received award from the State Government. He has thirteen books to his credit. sHis books include, Galiguduri, Yaru Hone, Suligali, Tarakambagalu, Rayara Solu, Nittya Natakagalu, Gubbigoodu, Hutcchu Harategalu, Kannadalli 50 Prabandhagalu, Kannada Baraha, Mullu Kante and Gudugu Minchu. Wadappi was in the editorial board of the "Purandara Vagmaya Dasa Sahitya" and contributed in bringing out six volumes of Dasa Sahitya. He was felicitated on various occasions for his literary achievements. Revenue and district-in-charge Minister Jagadish Shettar expressed his condolences over the Wadappi's demise.
