BANGALORE: In a major decision seen as consolidation of the coalition, the BJP and the Janata Dal (Secular) on Thursday decided to appoint heads to various government-owned boards and corporations in the next 8 to 10 days on ratio of 50:50. The decision on the long pending issue was taken at a meeting of the coordination committee of the two parties. Contrary to expectations, the Committee did not go into the "disclosures" made in Bellary on Wednesday by the suspended BJP MLC G. Janardhan Reddy in support of his bribery charge against Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and two Ministers. Addressing presspersons after the meeting, State BJP president D.V. Sadananda Gowda and State JD (S) president M.P. Prakash said the process to appoint heads to 102 boards and corporations, four commissions, 32 urban development authorities and members to various State and district level committees (total 9,648) would be completed within 8 to 10 days. The meeting also decided to expand the State Cabinet soon. Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa attended the meeting. Mr. Prakash said preference would be given to legislators and party workers in the appointment to boards and corporations. Mr. Gowda said a decision was also taken to hold meeting of the coordination committee once in 15 days and the Cabinet meeting every Thursday. Mr. Kumaraswamy took a dig at the Congress leaders of Gulbarga for not taking up development works, particularly roads, in that distinct. The condition of roads was pathetic and not motorable. He dared the Congress leaders, some of whom had held high positions in the government, to show a CD on the condition of roads in the district to the people of other parts of the State. The Government had decided to upgrade roads under Karnataka State Highway Improvement Project (KSHIP), he said. Mr. Prakash said the meting decided to convene a session of the legislature shortly to discuss the issue of the Office of Profit Bill. The legislature would discuss the report submitted by the Governor on the Bill, he said. About Mr. Reddy's action, Mr. Gowda said he had asked the Central Parliamentary Board of the party to take a decision.
