`Adjournment a ploy to escape from issues'

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Legislature Party on Thursday accused the Government of using adjournment of the Assembly as an excuse to prevent the Opposition from raising controversial issues.

Addressing a press conference, TDLP Deputy Leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy and four other MLAs said the Government was scared of facing the House with the Opposition determined to pin it down on land acquisition for Outer Ring Road , price rise, drought situation and outbreak of chikungunya. He also charged the Government with being behind the "systematic" adjournment of the House "as it suits it well" and demanded that the session be extended by four or five days. "Government is behaving in an irresponsible manner and wasting the precious time of the House as it did during the budget session."

Dr. Reddy said both Congress and TRS were misusing the Assembly forum for settling scores and exchanging charges of betrayal. "Let them settle the issue outside and enable the House to take up problems affecting people," he said. Taking a dig at G. Chinna Reddy, Convenor, Telangana Regional Congress Coordination Committee convenor, he charged him with changing his stand from endorsing the slogan of "Simon go back" when Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy was leader of the Opposition to "Salaam Simon" now.
