YSR releases book

on Prakasam Pantulu

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Wednesday released an autobiography `Naa Jeevita Yatra' of Andhra Kesari Prakasam Pantulu brought out by the Telugu Samiti to mark his birth anniversary. He said the book would inspire the youth. M. Buddha Prasad, MLA and president of the samiti, said more books would be published to `inspire people.' B. Central Government releases

400 cr. for flood relief

HYDERABAD: The Centre has released Rs. 400 crores for taking up flood relief works in the State. Announcing this in New Delhi on Thursday, State Government's special representative Mallu Ravi said the assistance was only ad hoc. A high-level committee would take a final decision on the total quantum of relief after considering the report of the Central team. - Special Correspondent

Five hurt in group clash

VIZIANAGARAM: Five persons were injured when Congress and TDP groups clashed at Narayanapuram under Vizianagaram rural police station limits on Wednesday night. According to the rural police, trouble began when the panchayat office housed in a rented building was shifted to BC Colony in Padalapeta. -Correspondent

HYDERABAD: A.N. Dave, Executive Director (ED), National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd. (NTPC), northern region, has moved as ED to the south at Secunderabad. An M.Tech from IIT New Delhi, he joined the NTPC as an executive trainee in 1977. - Special Correspondent

Naval ship decommissioned

VISAKHAPATNAM: Indian naval ship T-57, a seaward defence boat, based at Visakhapatnam, was decommissioned on Thursday at a ceremony held at the naval base here by Eastern Naval Command Chief of Staff Rear Admiral Anil Chopra. The ship, which was commissioned in February 1985 by Vice-Admiral (Retd.) V.L. Koppikar at Goa, was mainly deployed for harbour defence patrol and search and rescue operations. - Special Correspondent

Hostels sanctioned

HYDERABAD: The Government has sanctioned three hostels for orthopaedically challenged students with 100 in-take capacity each at Ongole, Kurnool and Sangareddy. Students of classes first to 10th whose parents/guardians' annual income is below Rs.12,000 are eligible. They are required to submit applications to the Assistant Director, Disabled Welfare, of the respective districts before August 31. -Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Bhavishyanidhi Adalat on the grievances of members of employees' provident fund will be held on September 11 at 11 a.m. at the regional office, Employees' Provident Fund Organisation, Barkatpura, Hyderabad. Members who wish to file grievances may submit them at the office of Regional Provident Commissioner, Hyderabad, on or before September 4 either in person or by post or email at epfohydcsd@yahoo.co.in.
