Paryatak Bhavan to be ready soon

Suresh Krishnamoorthy

A lot of equipment imported says official

  • Bhavan to house tourism promotion, reservation offices of every State
  • Central, State Governments, APTDC provide financial aid for the plaza
  • Health spa, parking space for 200 cars are the added attractions

HYDERABAD: The much talked-about tourism plaza in the city is close to completion and is all set to be unveiled and christened `Paryatak Bhavan' by September-end.

With over two lakh feet of office space and costing Rs. 30 crores, it is billed as one-of-its-kind in this region. It will house tourism promotion and reservation offices of every State along with 84-room star hotel, two conference halls, a board room, food court, 160-seater speciality restaurant, 120-seater coffee shop, 60-seater bar and restaurant, a banquet hall for 400 guests, swimming pool on the roof of the third floor, a health spa and parking space for 200 cars.

    Ideal location

The seven-storeyed and centrally air-conditioned complex will be the ideal location for the tourism sector, says Raymond Peter, Managing Director, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC), after reviewing the progress of the work. The funding for the building comes from three sources — grants from the Government of India (Rs. 5 crores), the State Government (Rs. 12 crores) and the corporation (Rs. 13 crores). While office-cum-display space will be given on rent, managing the hotel, conference halls, banquet halls and health spa will be outsourced to a hotel chain.

    Finishing touches

A lot of equipment has been imported — aluminium ALCO panels from Korea, Schindler elevators and escalators from China, room lock from China through Godrej and air chillers from Brazil.

"Interestingly, we have saved over Rs. 1 crore by importing them," Mr. Peter says.

He says most of the internal and external works have been completed and only finishing touches are to be given. "As for the hotel, the new management will only need to buy furniture and curtains.

We will be ready to unveil the complex before the World Tourism Day on September 27," Mr. Peter adds.
