MANGALORE: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Noukarara Kriya Samiti here has appealed to Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to stop the arbitrary licensing of routes to the private transport operators by the Regional Transport Authority (RTA). The appeal letter, which was released to the press here today, alleged that the RTA was illegally issuing temporary stage carriage licences and pukka licences in rural sector. As a result, the KSRTC was losing approximately Rs. 1.5 lakh a day. The appeal pointed out that Mangalore- B.C. Road sector, B.C. Road-Polali gate, B.C. Road-Melkaru, Sarapady and Guruvainakere bus stand to Belthangady bus stand were nationalised routes. The RTA could not issue licence to private operators there. The appeal also pointed out that the RTA had given 92 licences in these routes.
