Polycentric knee brace camp
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD:
A polycentric knee brace camp for those suffering from osteoarthritis of knee and other joints will be held at Jain Bhavan, Eden Bagh on August 30 and 31.
The camp being organised by Astha, a women's organisation working for socio-cultural causes, will provide polycentric knee brace, a belt specially designed for patients suffering from osteoarthritis of knee, back, elbow, ankle, waist and shoulder.
Astha president Dipti Mehta said the brace designed by Vijay Naik (Prothetist and Orthotist) would enable the patient to sit, climb stairs and walk comfortably. The brace has been designed to stabilise the knee, transfer the body weight from the affected compartment to the knee joint and correct the alignment. Continuous use of brace for eight to 10 months would reduce the pain and swelling around the joint and correct the deformity.
The camp is held once in four months in the city and follow-up check up for existing brace users will be on August 29 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. For registrations one may contact Ph. Nos. 9885084545, 9246151414 or 27665512.
