Motorcyclist creates a scare

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A motorcyclist, Jaffar, who came close to the convoy of DGP Swaranjit Sen, was held at Punjagutta crossroads on Wednesday night, it is learnt.

The police, however, released him as nothing suspicious was found about him. According to sources, the DGP's convoy consisting of three cars was passing by Punjagutta when the motorcyclist happened to come too close. In the backdrop of recent threats from Maoists, the security personnel of the DGP grew suspicious, noted down the two-wheeler's number and alerted the Punjagutta police. A team of Punjagutta traffic police intercepted the motorcyclist, verified the vehicle's documents and handed over him to local law and order police. Questioning revealed he was a tea-stall owner and had no mala-fide intentions. No case was booked against him.
