VHP flays stone pelting

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The State unit of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Thursday condemned the attack on several buildings by hundreds of youth during Tuesday's `Jagne ki raat.'

In a statement here, its State unit Pramukh M. Vittal Rao came down heavily on the miscreants who pelted stones and broke the glass façades of several buildings including Perika Bhavan. He pointed out that the City police should be on a state of high alert in view of the forthcoming Ganesh Chavithi to avoid any such situations during the festival.

The VHP leader also said that violent actions by Muslim youth had become frequent in the twin cities and "the police machinery did nothing to control their aggressive behaviour." The State Government, instead of taking strict action on the violators, was "giving them encouragement by remaining silent" on the issue, he alleged.
