City resident held at Glasgow

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A man hailing from Hyderabad has been arrested on charge of possessing a firearm at the Glasgow International Airport and produced in a Scotland court. Twentyseven-year-old Vishal Rao, said to be from Adarshnagar, was arrested on Sunday for being in unlawful possession of an air pistol. He was produced at the Paisley Sheriff Court and charged under the Aviation Security Act, 1982. He reportedly made no plea or declaration during his brief appearance on petition, according to an IANS report from London.

When contacted, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) N. Madhusudhan Reddy said they had no information about the arrest of Vishal Rao.

Another senior official said information about such arrests would first reach the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, and then circulated to the State police headquarters and city police. "We are yet to get official confirmation on the matter," he added.
