Private bank employee found murdered

BANGALORE: A private bank employee was found murdered at the Cantonment railway station on Thursday afternoon.

The police said the assailants had stabbed S. Ramu (25) in the abdomen and smashed his head with a boulder. Ramu, a resident of Attiguppe here, was a native of Vellore in Tamil Nadu. Preliminary enquiries revealed that he worked with a private bank here, they said. The motive behind the murder was not known. The Cantonment Railway police have registered a case.

Two persons stabbed

An employee of the Indian Telephone Industries (ITI) was stabbed allegedly by his friend's sister in Ramamurthynagar police station limits on Wednesday evening.

The police said that around 6.30 p.m. Thimmaiah (52), a resident of ITI Colony, was standing near a public call office (PCO) on Ramamurthynagar Main Road. Bhagya (45) came from behind and stabbed him on the back and right hand with a knife, the police said. Passers-by rushed an injured Thimmaiah to the ITI hospital in an autorickshaw.

According to the police, Thimmaiah and Bhagya, who knew each other for long, were involved in a financial dispute. The Ramamurthynagar police have registered a case.

In another incident, a power loom employee was stabbed in the abdomen by a robber on the Jnana Bharathi campus on Wednesday night.

The police said Kantharaju (26), a resident of Kamakshipalya, lost all his money after playing lottery at a shop in the Majestic area. Around 9 p.m., he boarded a BMTC bus to reach his house. As he fell asleep, he did not alight at Kamakshipalya and got down at the Jnana Bharathi campus, the last stop.

While Kantharaju was walking back home, an armed man waylaid him near the library block and demanded money from him. After Kantharaju told him that he had lost all the money in the lottery, the robber stabbed him and ran away. On hearing Kantharaju's screams, Home Guards, who were on duty on the campus, rushed him to the hospital, the police said. The Jnana Bharathi police have registered a case.
