NEW DELHI: A 32-year-old woman, her paramour and two others have been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police on charges of killing her 46-yer-old husband and disposing of his body at Sonepat in Haryana in January. Earlier, the police were told that the victim, Tilak Raj, had gone missing of January 19. His wife, Rajrani, lodged a complaint with the Samaipur Badli police in this regard on January 23. The police tried to trace Tilak Raj but to no avail. Subsequently, a kidnapping case was registered on August 22. On August 23, Constable Shiv Kumar of Inter-State Cell of the Crime Branch received a tip-off that Tilak Raj was murdered by his wife and her paramour, Naresh (35), who lived in the neighbourhood. The police picked them up for questioning. During interrogation, they broke down and allegedly confessed to having killed Tilak Raj along with two of their accomplices, Sunil (19) and Pravesh (19). The other two were also arrested. It turned out that after the death his first wife, Tilak Raj had married Rajrani around 15 years ago. However, soon after the marriage, Rajrani developed extra-marital affair with a neighbour, Naresh, who was then a bachelor. Later, Naresh got married but he continued to see Rajrani. Tilak Raj came to know about the illicit relationship around two years ago and would quarrel with Rajrani, a mother of three, over the issue. She along with Naresh then allegedly conspired to eliminate him. They allegedly hired Sunil and Pravesh for the job against payment of Rs. 10,000. On January 19, they took him to Sonepat on the pretext of helping him learn how to drive a Maruti van and with the help of Sunil and Pravesh slit his throat. They then disposed of the body in the Jawaharlal Nehru Canal there.
