CHENNAI: Sun Microsystems India Pvt Ltd., has launched its third ControlCentre across the globe and the first in the Asia Pacific region in Chennai. The facility is a 24/7 centralised operations centre for managing and monitoring customers' IT infrastructure and processes. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Joyjit Chatterji, Country Director (Sun Services), Sun Microsystems India, the APAC ControlCentre would be one of the key components of Sun's managed operations and responding to customers within 15 minutes. Mr. Chatterji said the centre would have an initial capacity of 300 skilled engineers who would integrate seamlessly with Sun's other ControlCentres in the U.S. and Europe. Trained analysts would also be deployed to add strategic control either by logging into the customer infrastructure or through on-site teams. The scope of services would be truly heterogeneous, including core database administration, server management, web administration, operating system administration and networking device monitoring and management. These services would be available to clients at a fraction of the market cost. The company's Vice-President (Services)-Asia Pacific, Jeya Kumar, said the addition of a ControlCentre in India would expand Sun's current service delivery capacity.
