GM launches CNG variant of Chevrolet Optra

Vehicle is priced at Rs. 8.10 lakh ex-showroom Delhi

NEW DELHI: General Motors India on Friday launched the CNG variant of its sedan Chevrolet Optra priced at Rs. 8.10 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). "The CNG initiative is a manifestation of our resolve to address the needs of consumers nation-wide through the growing line-up of Chevrolet vehicles," GM India President and Managing Director, Rajeev Chaba, said.

To start with, the Optra CNG will be available in those cities where CNG is available, including Delhi, Mumbai and Gujarat, through GM India dealerships, says a company release.

A CNG kit, approved by GM India, would be fitted onto the Optra 1.6 at the dealerships. Reinforced coil springs have been provided as part of the conversion kit. All current Optra 1.6 owners also could have a CNG kit installed in their vehicles and retain their warranty coverage, the release added.

While the actual cost of the car will be Rs. 7.61 lakh, the CNG kits will be available for about Rs. 49,000.

The Optra CNG is a true bi-fuel vehicle having a standard petrol tank as well to accommodate regular gasoline. — PTI
