HYDERABAD: The impasse in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly over the Telangana Rashtra Samithi's demand for a discussion on Telangana issue could not be broken, forcing adjournment of the House for the third consecutive day on Friday without transacting any business.

The Assembly, which has already lost four days in this brief monsoon session that began on August 17, will now meet on Monday.

Treasury Benches, though ready for a debate on Telangana, are in no mood for a discussion on the basis of an adjournment motion. Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ruled out suspension of the protesting members or extending the monsoon session beyond August 31.

As soon as the House met, slogan-shouting members of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi stalled the proceedings.

Waving placards, they rushed to the podium soon after Speaker K. R. Suresh Reddy disallowed an adjournment motion tabled by them demanding that a resolution for statehood be taken up for debate.

TRS members raised full-throated "Jai Telangana" slogans, and indulged in heated arguments with the Chair.

The Speaker appealed to them to relent as also his assurance to allow debate on all Telangana-related issues like GO No 610 were futile.

He adjourned the House for 30 minutes but there were similar scenes when it met later.

He adjourned the House for the day, observing "this is not the way to show the Assembly to the people of the State."

Later, TRS members trooped out and staged a noisy sit-in outside the Speaker's chamber.

TRS floor leader G. Vijayarama Rao and N. Narasimha Reddy said that they were raising the issue of Telangana statehood that reflected the aspirations of 3.5 crore people and termed as incorrect the charge that they were stalling the proceedings.

Mr. Narasimha Reddy declared that the TRS would again table an adjournment notice on Telangana on Monday.
