GULBARGA: The Kannada Sahitya Parishat and the Sharana Sahitya Parishat have joined hands with other pro-Kannada organisations, artists and actors to address problems being faced in border taluks of the State and work to ensure that Kannada was used at all levels in the administration. The organisations have come together to form a new organisation called "Kannada Nudi Kannada Gadi Jagruti Jathra" and have decided to tour all 52 taluks that share borders with Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Goa, and Kerala from October 2 to 23 to study problems there and come out with a report on steps needed to be taken to save Kannada.
Chief convener of the organisation Mukyamantri Chandru told The Hindu here on Friday that it was unfortunate that Kannada had lost its primacy in Bangalore and that Kannadigas had become a minority there.
Mr. Chandru said a jatha by the "Kannada Nudi Kannada Gadi Jagruti Jatha" would be begin at Belgaum on October 2.
