NCC to enrol more girl cadets

Headquarters fixes 35 per cent quota for girls



READY FOR GALLOP: Air Commodore V. K. Bali, Deputy Director-General of NCC, inspecting a horse meant for equestrian training during a visit to Tirupati on Friday.

TIRUPATI: Air Commodore V.K.Bali, the Deputy Director-General of NCC (Andhra Pradesh) has announced that due prominence will be given to enrolment of more number of girl cadets, to the extent of 35 per cent presence in the NCC activities.

Mr.Bali, who visited various battalions and wings of the NCC's Tirupati group, comprising Chittoor, Kadapa and Nellore districts during the last five days, spoke on the NCC's policy to include more number of girls to strike a balance and on the ambitious target of 35 per cent fixed by the headquarters. He said the NCC was conceived to inculcate qualities like discipline, courage, social service and patriotism in the youth and the girls would have a due share in it.

He expressed happiness over the Tirupati group bagging a number of prizes in the recently held Thal Sainik camp.During a visit to the II Andhra Remount and Veterinary (R&V) Regiment here on Friday, he inspected equestrian training being imparted to the cadets. An able horse rider himself, Mr.Bali even gave tips to the cadets on the nuances of horse-riding.

He went around the Rs.2 lakh equestrian facility, training school and jumping area developed at the Veterinary University campus. Group Commander Col. Sandeep Kumar and R&V Regiment head Lt.Col. M.S.Reen were among those present.

Earlier, Mrs.Ritu Bali visited Akshaya Kshetram, a home for special children and distributed food packets and fruits to the inmates.
