PONDICHERRY: The Government was taking steps to open 60 more ration shops in the Union Territory, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has said.

Replying to a question by Dravida Munnetra Khazhagam MLA R Siva in the Assembly, the Chief Minister said steps were being taken to bifurcate some of the shops. Rations shops, which currently had 750 to 800 cards would be split, he said.

The Chief Minister also said he himself would look into the issue.

Earlier, the DMK leader in the house, A.M.H. Nazeem, said three students from Karaikal under the Government quota were denied admission in a self-financing college in Karaikal.
