BELLARY: The suspended BJP MLC, G. Janardhan Reddy, who has levelled serious charges of corruption against Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and two of his Cabinet colleagues, has now accused the family members of Mr. Kumaraswamy of indulging in money laundering. In a statement issued here on Friday, Mr. Reddy said that with much effort he and his team managed to get information on just one bank account in the name of H. Kavita, one of the sisters-in-law of the Chief Minister, which revealed transactions of huge amounts of money. This along with the acquisition of immovable property valued at several times the known sources of income of members of the Chief Minister's and his brothers' families, clearly established offences under sections 3 and 4 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, he charged. Mr. Reddy said his specific charge against the Chief Minister and his family members was that they had collected, through intermediaries, Rs. 150 crore from mine owners/transporters/exporters and other sources and used the ill-gotten money to purchase immovable property in their names and in the names of their kith and kin. In a case like this the possibility of direct evidence was rare and need not be insisted upon for the limited purpose of investigation, he said.
