ANANTAPUR: Speakers, at a dharna staged by Students Federation of India (SFI) in front of the Collectorate here on Friday,alleged that inmates of welfare hostels in the district were being subject to hardships in one form or the other every day. The protest was organised to conclude the cycle yatra of SFI leaders to study the problems in welfare hostels in the name of "Zilla samkshema hostella parirakashana yatra". The yatra launched on August 8 covered about 1,100 kms and studied the existing problems in 200 hostels across 49 mandals. District president of SFI Noor Mohammed, general secretary Veera Raju, M. Geyanand of JVV, K.A. Ratnaiah of CITU and H. Venkatesh of Kulavivaksha Vyathireka Porata Samithi spoke to the students who participated in the protest. They attributed the problems to lack of supervision and insufficient release of funds.
