ELURU: R.K. Arnold, Chief General Manager, AP Telecom Circle, launched a scheme, which intended to facilitate payment of landline and cell bills through credit cards by customers, at BSNL complex here on Friday. Electronic Data Capturing (EMC) machine was installed at the cash counter. The customers could swipe their credit card on the machine for making landline and cell bill payments, bypassing the conventional method of tendering either cash or checks at the counter. The officials at the counters will verify the photo identity and specimen signature of the cardholders before accepting the bills through credit card. The BSNL offered the facility in collaboration with the Andhra Bank which would pay the BSNL the cash on behalf of the subscribers who made their transactions through credit cards and recover the amounts from them later.
Tech-savvy
Mr. Arnold pronounced the BSNL's commitment for application of the latest technologies in delivery of services. He said the BSNL had decided to increase the customer service centres to reduce the strain the customers underwent. Telecom District General Manager L. Ananthram, Andhra Bank Assistant General Manager D.V.N. Rao spoke.
