TTD staff to go on strike

Special Correspondent

  • TTD management appeal to its 15,000-strong work force to exercise patience
  • TTD staff unions take defiant stand and finalise an action plan

TIRUPATI: The TTD management's appeal to its 15,000-strong work force to exercise little patience over their pending demands in view of the oncoming annual Brahmotsavam at Tirumala has apparently not evoked any response. This is evident from the defiant stand various TTD staff unions took at their meeting here. The unions attributed their hard stance to what they called backtracking by the TTD management on its earlier promise to tackle their problems within a reasonable timeframe.

The meeting also finalised an action plan.

The leaders , who spoke at the meeting, decided that even if the management called them for negotiations again, they should not respond and must go ahead with the agitation. The unions are sore with the management for allegedly dragging its feet on the allotment of house sites to the staff, while doling out precious sites to non-TTD organisations.

As per the agitation schedule they adopted at the meeting, they would launch dharna on August 28 and 29, follow it up with a black badge demonstration on August 30, 31 and resort to relay fast from September 1.
