MOODBIDRI: Local lad Naveen Chandra of Alva's College grabbed the limelight in the Karnataka State junior weightlifting championships winning the 62-kg category title by a distance on the opening day at the Sri Dhavala College here on Friday. Naveen, who totalled 202.5 kg with efforts of 90 kg in snatch and 112.5 kg in clean and jerk, out lifted his competitors Ganesh S.R. of St. Philomena Sports Club, Puttur (total 177.5 kg, snatch 75 kg, clean and jerk 102.5 kg) and Nitin B.K. of District Coaching Centre, Mangalore (165 kg, snatch 75 kg, clean and jerk 90 kg). The results: 56 kg: 1. Basavaraj H. Kaijol, VSMS College of Physical Education, Nippani (Snatch 85 kg, clean and jerk 105 kg; total 190 kg), 2. Santhosh Kumar H.V., Sudheer Fitness Centre (75 kg, 97.5 kg; 172.5 kg); 62 kg: 1. Naveen Chandra, (90 kg, 112.5 kg, 202.5 kg), 2. Ganesh S.R. (75 kg, 102.5 kg; 177.5 kg), 3. Nithin B.K. (75 kg, 90 kg; 165 kg); 69-kg: 1. Vinod L., St. Philomena Sports Club, Puttur (77.5 kg, 100 kg; 177.5 kg) 2. Lokesh, Alva's (75 kg, 97.5 kg; 172.5 kg), 2.
