Rythu Sangham wants

subsidised seed supply

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham has appealed to the Government to supply seeds, fertilizers and other inputs at subsidised rates and make available crop loans at low interest rates to the farmers affected by floods and drought in the State. In a statement, B. Tulasidas, president, and S. Malla Reddy, secretary of the Sangham, said farmers have lost crops spread over 25 lakh acres in the recent floods. - Special Correspondent

Expresses halt at Gooty

HYDERABAD: South Central Railway has provided one-minute halt at Gooty station for train no.2627/2628 Bangalore-New Delhi-Bangalore Karnataka Express and for train no.7652/7651 Kacheguda-Chennai Egmore-Kacheguda Express at Tadipatri with effect from October 15. Train no.2627 Bangalore-New Delhi Karnataka Express will arrive and depart Gooty at 11.57 p.m./11.58 p.m. Train No. 2628 New Delhi-Bangalore Karnataka Express will arrive/depart Gooty at 7.09 a.m./7.10 a.m. Train no.7652 Kacheguda-Chennai Egmore Express will arrive/depart Tadipatri station at 9.59 p.m./10 p.m. and in the return direction Train No. 7651 Chennai Egmore-Kacheguda Express will arrive/depart Tadipatri at 11.49 p.m./11.50 p.m., a press release said.-Staff Reporter

Shop destroyed in fire

KADAPA: Fire broke out in a shop selling chemicals and surgical spirits near RTC bus stand here on Friday evening causing an approximate loss of Rs. 15 lakhs. Fire engulfed the shop around 3 p.m. as bottles containing several acids, surgical spirits and laboratory fluids burst into flames. Fire tenders put off the flames around 6.30 p.m. - Staff Reporter

Couple ends life

KURNOOL: Two lovers, who were dejected after their marriage proposal was rejected by their elders, ended their lives by consuming poison at Pathakota in Pagidyala police station limits on Friday. According to reports, the girl, Nagamani, committed suicide by consuming poison on Thursday following which the boy, Anil, also ended his life. - Staff Reporter

tourism policy soon

HYDERABAD: Tourism Minister J. Geetha Reddy on Friday said an attractive investor friendly tourism policy would be announced soon. She was briefing a high level delegation from Singapore led by its Minister of State for Education and Manpower Gan Kim Yung about the Government's tourism initiatives.

She informed the delegation that a "night bazar" coming up near Shilparamam would be inaugurated shortly. - Special Correspondent

GUNTUR: Suspected Communist Party of India (Maoist) naxalites on Friday shot dead a Congress leader of Guthikonda village in Piduguralla mandal of Guntur district. The victim, Nallabolu Naraiah, was also the president of local Water Users' Association. - Staff Reporter
