KOLKATA: Top-seeded Grandmaster Krishnan Sasikiran (ONGC) won the individual title of the 18th PSPB chess tournament here on Friday. He beat eight-seeded IM M.R. Venkatesh (BPCL) in the ninth and final round to tally 7.5 points. Third-seeded GM Koneru Humpy (ONGC) also scored 7.5 points, defeating second-seeded GM Surya Sekhar Ganguly (IOC) but was placed second behind Sasikiran as per the Median Buchulz tie-breaking system. Seventh-seeded GM R.B. Ramesh (IOC) and his team-mate Ganguly shared the third spot with 7 points each. The standing: 1. K. Sasikiran (ONGC) 7.5; 2. K. Humpy (ONGC) 7.5; 3. R.B. Ramesh (IOC) 7; 4. S.S. Ganguly (IOC) 7; 5. D. Chakkravarthy (IOC) 6.5; 6. N. Das (ONGC) 6.5; 7. S. Arun Prasad (OIL) 6.5; 8. M.R.Venkatesh (BPCL) 6; 9. P. Konguvel (ONGC) 6; 10. Abhijit Kunte (IOC) 6; 11.
