BHOPAL: The water level in the Indira Sagar Project reservoir is being maintained at 255 metres in compliance with a Madhya Pradesh High Court order and would be increased to the maximum level of 262.13 metres only after obtaining clearance from the Court. Vice-Chairman of Narmada Valley Development Authority Uday Kumar Verma pointed this out adding that in order to maintain the level at 255 metres, four gates of the dam had been opened to release 12,888 cusecs of water. Since the power generating units of the project were also functioning, an additional 63,558 cusecs of water was being discharged from the power house, he added. Mr. Verma said ISP started generating power in January 2004 and so far has generated 445.64 crore units.
