Agitation for separate chambers

Staff Reporter

KARIMNAGAR: A fresh controversy over allocation of separate chambers to corporators of various parties has become a cause of concern for the officials of Karimnagar Municipal Corporation, which is already facing shortage of funds for developmental works.

Following the removal of furniture from his chambers without notice, reportedly for renovation work, Deputy Mayor Md. Abbas Sammi launched a protest by erecting a temporary office with thatched roof in front of the corporation office from Thursday onwards.

Again on Friday, the corporators of various political parties staged a dharna in front of the corporation demanding allocation of separate office chambers. On the other hand, women corporators also staged a separate dharna demanding a special chamber for them in the corporation. The corporators argued that they did not have any place to sit and discuss about local issues.
