Bail rejected
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI
: A sessions court here has refused bail to the MDMK functionary, Velacherry Manimaran, and anticipatory bail to the Dalit Panthers of India functionary Ganesan alias Kadamban, in connection with an alleged pro-LTTE meet on August 17.
V. Periyakaruppiah, Principal Sessions Judge, dismissed their pleas through a common order, holding that the offences alleged against them are, if true, "against the nation, prejudicial to national integration and certainly a grave offence." Mr. Manimaran was arrested on August 19, for making a provocative speech prejudicial to national security, and Mr. Ganesan had organised the meeting at Valluvarkottam.
