Students, techies take out a candlelight march supporting medical students

HYDERABAD: The reverberations of the protest march by medical students in Delhi, opposing the Government's decision to introduce reservations for Other Backward Classes in educational institutions, were felt in the city too on Friday.

More than 400 students and software professionals took out a march to support the cause of medical students and oppose caste-based reservation, Shreyas Desai, convener, Youth for Equality, said.

Youth for Equality is a nationwide campaign launched by youngsters opposing the reservation policy.

The march began with 150 persons from Cyber Gateway and went up to Hi-tec City where the protestors were joined by over 200 NIFT and IIIT students. They also staged a rasta roko.

As part of their charter of demands, the youngsters are asking for a total roll back of the proposed legislation to increase the reservation percentage in Central Government institutions and central examinations.
