Flat burgled at KPHB Colony

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Burglars decamped with gold weighing 50 tolas and Rs. 8,000 cash from a flat at Kukatpally on Friday. This is the second day light robbery in the area in the last five days.

K. Srinivasa Rao and his wife Krishna Kumari, both professors in a private engineering college, live in the apartment on fifth floor of Lotus Homes of Kukatpally Housing Board Colony.

They left for work around 9 a.m.

Two hours later, neighbours found the apartment doors open and called the police, who in turn informed Mr. Rao.

The professor returned home and found that gold and cash missing from the almirah.

The offenders entered the flat by breaking latch of the main door. "They didn't touch the lock. Burglars broke into another flat at Hydernagar and made off with 90 tolas gold and Rs. 50,000 five days ago. Modus operandi is same in both the cases," Kukatpally inspector Ch. Radhakishan Rao said.

The police suspect that the same burglars could be behind both incidents.
