Police plan special unit to issue licences

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The city police are toying with the idea of setting up a single window system for issuing all types of licences. Instead of asking an applicant to move around different wings in city police commissionerate for various licenses, the higher-ups are planning to bring all such wings under one roof.

This special unit would be located in the building under construction behind the commissionerate, city Police Commissioner A.K. Mohanty told reporters here on Friday. "A person should fill a form and submit certificates for any licence. We would give stipulated time and give away the licence on that date," he said.

Mr. Mohanty said during the revamping of city police licensing system, it had come to his notice that some persons had not renewed their gun licences.

"The data we have about arm licences is incomplete. We are collecting all details and would prepare a new database by next January," he said.
