Mild tension at Jebabagh
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD:
Mild tension prevailed at Jebabagh when some locals staged a demonstration in front of Asifnagar police station late on Friday night accusing the police of refusing permission for installing the Ganesh idol.
While the police said they objected to plans to install the idol on the main road, the demonstrators argued that they changed the place of idol installation since some construction activity was going at the site where they used to install the idol every year.
Led by leaders of the Ganesh Utsav Samithi and the BJP, the demonstration continued for an hour.
Howevers, it was called off after the police agreed to permit installation of the idol along the road provided organisers ensured smooth traffic movement.
