BANGALORE: Three armed men, who took lift in a call centre vehicle, assaulted the driver and robbed him of a gold ring, a mobile phone, a wristwatch and cash in Koramangala police station limits in the early hours of Friday. Later, the robbers pushed the driver, Mahesh, out of the vehicle and sped away. The police said that around 1.30 a.m. Mahesh was returning to his house in Sarakki Layout after dropping employees at the call centre in Electronic City. Three men stopped the car near Marathahalli Bridge and sought a lift. After boarding the vehicle, they threatened Mahesh and made him drive on Sarjapur Road. On reaching Kaikondanahalli, they robbed him of the articles and pushed him out of the car, the police said. The Koramangala police have registered a case.
Bag snatched
Two men, riding a motorcycle, diverted the attention of a private cargo company employee and snatched from him a bag containing Rs. 50,000 in cash in Malleswaram police station limits on Friday. The police said that around 1.30 p.m. James was walking towards a bus stop after withdrawing Rs. 50,000 from HDFC bank on 18th Cross, Malleswaram. The motorists threw filth on James and as he was cleaning his clothes, they snatched the bag from him and sped away, the police said. On a complaint by James, who works as an office assistant at AC Cargo on Tumkur Road, the Malleswaram police have registered a case.
Arrested
The Vijayanagar police have arrested Nagaraja (21) of Kunigal taluk in Tumkur district on the charge of theft and recovered from him Rs. 30,000 in cash and gold ornaments worth Rs. 27,000. The accused had stolen Rs. 99,000 in cash and gold ornaments from the house of his acquaintance, Chamundi of Amruthanagar, the police added.
Raided
The Central Crime Branch (CCB) on Thursday raided Doddi's Resort at Allalasandra on Bellary Road and arrested eight people on charges of gambling. The police seized from them stake money of Rs. 4.34 lakh and eight mobile phones. The Yelahanka New Town police have registered a case.
