`Education important for women'

Bangalore: The former Minister for Women and Child Development Motamma has underscored the importance of education for women.

She was speaking at a seminar on `Social action strategies to eradicate atrocities on women' organised by Mount Carmel College here on Friday. Education was an important pre-requisite for their empowerment. Women were subjected to harassment of all sorts. It was essential that a woman equipped herself to avoid being discriminated against, she said.
