Randhawa climbs up

Bandar Seri Begawan: An erratic Rahil Gangjee struggled with his putting and even six birdies couldn't prevent him from slipping to tied 10th position as he dropped a couple of bogeys and a double bogey to return a modest two under 69 card on the penultimate day of the $3,00,000 Brunei Open on Saturday.

Jyoti Randhawa had a fruitful outing as he carded a three under 68 to surge to tied fifth with an aggregate of five under 208. Randhawa shares the spot with, among others, Arjun Singh.

Meanwhile, at Akron (USA), Shiv Kapur managed to make the cut at the $7.5 million Bridgestone Invitational European PGA Tour World Golf Championship despite a nightmarish back nine, where he dropped as many as six shots without a birdie.

Shiv, who returned a poor five over 75 on Friday, was lying at tied 61st with an aggregate of seven over 145 in two rounds.

World No. 1 Tiger Woods roared to the lead after carding a magnificent six under 64 in round two. Tiger survived a dramatic last hole bogey to move to the top with an aggregate of nine under 131.

Chopra soars

At Reno (USA), Sweden-born Daniel Chopra carded a superb five under 67 to be tied 18th whereas Arjun Atwal had a near miss before a last hole birdie enabled him to make the cut in the $3 million Reno-Tahoe Open.

Compatriot Jeev Milkha Singh had a better outing on Friday with three under 69 but that proved too little too late as the Asian Tour leader fell by the wayside after aggregating four over 148 in two rounds. — UNI
