DINDIGUL: Siddarth Jain and Anees Kowser won the men's and women's singles titles respectively in the senior State badminton championships, organised by the Dindigul District Badminton Association at Akshya Vidyalaya indoor stadium here on Saturday.

Anees Kowser went on to win the doubles title partnering Ramya and the mixed doubles along with R. Vijay Anand.

Minister for Revenue and Law, I. Periasamy, gave away the prizes in the presence of TNBA vice-president E.N. Palanichamy.

The results:

Men: Singles (final): Siddarth Jain bt Aditya Elango 21-7, 21-10.

Third place: Vijay Anand bt Senthil Velan (Erd) 21-10, 17-21, 21-16.

Semifinals: S. Jain bt Senthilvelan 21-14, 21-10; A. Elango bt R.V. Anand (Cud) 21-16, 20-22, 21-19.

Quarterfinals: A. Elango bt R. Mahendran (Mdu) 21-18, 21-14; S. Jain bt Illayaraja (Mdu) 21-7, 21-5; S. Velan bt Subramanian (Mdu) 21-8, 22-30; R.V. Anand bt Shyam Sundar (Che) 21-10, 21-18.

Doubles (final): Roy Mathew & T. Maran bt E. Raghavan & Prakash 23-21, 12-21, 21-19. Semifinals: E. Raghavan & Prakash bt Vijay & Illayaraja 21-16, 21-19; Roy Methew & T. Maran bt Malik Jalal & R. Vijay Anand 21-16, 22-20.

Kadri Mills in semifinals

Kadri Mills got the better of Tirupur Basketball Club 23-18 and entered the semifinals of the 15th district-level basketball tournament for mini boys for the Texcity Basketball Trust Trophy at the VOC Corporation Sports Complex courts at Coimbatore on Friday.

In another low-scoring match, Texcity BC drubbed Lisieux 26-4 for a place in the last four.

The results (semifinals): Texcity BC 26 (Naveen 10) bt Lisieux 4; Kadri Mills 23 bt Tirupur BC 18.
