NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday said her Government would take primary health care to the doorsteps of the people by constructing 36 new hospitals in various parts of the Capital. Inaugurating an ultramodern, first-phase facility for treatment of cancer at the Delhi State Cancer Institute here, Ms. Dikshit said the linear accelerator-based precision radiotherapy would provide the most comprehensive and complete facilities for diagnosis and treatment of all types of cancers under one roof with indoor facility for 100 patients. The Chief Minister said that to bring about a qualitative improvement in the functioning of various hospitals in the Capital the Government had opened new peripheral hospitals, upgraded existing hospitals, augmented services by making use of the latest technological advancement in the medi-care system. Stating that East Delhi would witness tremendous infrastructure development in the run-up to the Commonwealth Games-2010, Ms. Dikshit said the construction of the Games Village in the trans-Yamuna area would not only spawn all-round development of the area but also ensure civic services and civic infrastructure at par with the most developed localities of the Capital. Health Minister Yoganand Shastri and Member of Parliament from East Delhi Sandeep Dikshit were among those present on the occasion.
