NEW DELHI: Strongly disapproving the practice of trial courts issuing non bailable warrants (NBWs) against accused persons on flimsy grounds, the Delhi High Court has observed that such drastic action interferes with the personal liberty of an individual. Justice A K Sikri quashed the NBW ordered by a Metropolitan Magistrate who on finding the accused Ganesh absent at the hearing issued the same on August 21. Ganesh challenged that issuance of NBW by the magistrate on the ground that he could not be present at the hearing due to some communication gap. Ganesh was scheduled to appear before the Magistrate at Court No 21 on August 21 at 10.30 am but could not do so as he was went to Court Room No 26 under a mistaken impression. - PTI
