NEW DELHI: While taking serious view of expulsion of a class 12th student, the Delhi High Court has directed the Government-aided Raisina Bengali School in the Capital to immediately allow the student to attend classes. Justice Anil Kumar said, ``Considering the facts and circumstances, the expulsion of 17 year old class XII student Chandan Kumar by Raisina Bengali School is stayed. The Chariman of the School Managing Committee and the Principal are directed to allow the student to attend the classes immediately.'' In a petition Paras Nath Bhagat, the father of Chandan, alleged that his son had been rusticated by the School management as he lodged a criminal complaint against Principal Subroto Sen for allegedly subjecting him to corporal punishment in contravention to the Delhi School Education Rules, 1973. The Court also issued notice to Chairman Managing Committee of the School, Principal of the School and Director Education of Delhi Government to file their replies by October 12, the next date of hearing. Chairman of the Managing Committee of the School Ranjit Basu sent Chandan's expulsion letter on June 28, which is arbitrary, unlawful and unreasonable, said the petition filed by Counsel Gautam Das and Deepak Maharaj. Stating the facts of the circumstances, the petition said the student went to the Principal on April 25 to lodge a complaint that another student had abused. - UNI
