16 cylinders seized

VIJAYAWADA: Civil Supplies officials seized 16 LPG cylinders in the city on Saturday. In the first raid, gas filling equipment was seized from Al Pasha Motor works opposite Mitra Agencies at Fakirgudem when gas was being loaded into car from a cylinder. The cylinder brought by the driver was seized.

In the second raid at Chittinagar, 15 cylinders were recovered from an authorised storage point. These were allegedly meant for diversionand each refill was being sold at Rs. 400 to Rs. 500 while the actual price was Rs. 300. The raid was conducted after a caller provided information about unauthorised storage at a tiled house.

ASOs P. Chandrasekhar and A. Usharani, HPC salesman Mukesh Kumar and others participated in the raids, which were conducted in the aftermath of a review meeting addressed by RDO on `LPG scarcity' on Friday. Officials said the general public had also been enthusiastic in giving information about such instances by calling up 9848918408, they added.
