Water level

MADURAI : The water level in the Periyar dam stood at 121.50 feet (136 feet) with an inflow of 509 cusecs and a discharge of 740 cusecs. The level in the Vaigai dam was 43.11 feet (71 feet) with an inflow of 576 cusecs and a discharge of 41 cusecs. The combined Periyar credit stood at 3797 mcft.

Vaigai dam recorded 32 mm followed by Andipatti 11.8, Marudhanadi and Sittampatti 9 mm each, Uthamapalayam 8, Peranai 5, Madurai and Viraghanooor dam 4 mm each, Sothuparai dam 3, Mettupatti and Kallandiri 2 mm each.

Power shutdown

There will be no power supply in the following areas between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. on August 29, owing to maintenance work at the Teppakulam sub-station: Teppakulam, Adaikkalam Pillai Colony, New Ramnad Road, Teppakulam West, Kamaraj Road, Teppakulam I Street to East Gate, Pankajam Colony, Anuppanadi-Teppam Road, Anuppanadi East and West, Pagalavan Nagar, Meenakshi Nagar, New Meenakshi Nagar, C.M.R. Road, Chinnakanmai, Indira Nagar, Old Kuyavarpalayam Road, Lakshmipuram Streets I to VI, Khanpalayam Streets I and II, Paccharisikara Street, Balarengapuram and Mina Teppam Streets from I to III and Krishnapuram. — Staff Reporter
