Rs. 19 crore allotted

to city corporation

KOCHI: The Planning Board has not returned any of the projects submitted by the city corporation, said Mayor Mercy William here in a press release on Saturday. The corporation had been allotted Rs. 19 crore for the financial year 2006-07, she said in the release, which also pointed out that 450 projects had been sent for approval. The corporation was advised to correct minor deficiencies in the projects, the press release added. — Staff Reporter

Seminar on amendments to code

Kochi: The Kerala Assistant Public Prosecutors' Association will organise a seminar on the ``Code of Criminal Procedure (Kerala Amendment) Bill, 2005, and the prosecution system,'' here on Sunday. Minister for Home Kodiyeri Balakrishnan will inaugurate the seminar at 10 a.m. at Hotel Presidency. Director-General of Prosecution P.G. Thampi will preside over the meeting, said Aboobecker Chengatt, president of the association, at a press conference here on Saturday. M.K. Damodaran, lawyer, will deliver the keynote address.

Additional Director-General of Prosecution V.K. Mohanan will take part in the meeting. — Staff Reporter

Hantex announces rebate for Onam

Kochi: The Kerala State Handloom Weavers' Cooperative Society Ltd. (Hantex) has declared 30 per cent rebate on sale of its products till September 4 as part of the Onam season offer. The rebate includes the 20 per cent rebate from the State Government and 10 per cent from the Centre, said a press release here. Sales are on at the GCDA Complex, Marine Drive outlet of Hantex, the press release added. — Staff Reporter

Legislature panel to visit consortium

Kochi: The 12-member subject committee of the State Legislature, led by Minister for Industries Elamarom Karim will visit the Kalady Rice Millers' Consortium on Monday. The aim of the visit is to review the progress of the consortium, one of the first industrial clusters in the State, said a press release here. — Staff Reporter
