BANGALORE: A man suffered a bullet injury when an armed gang opened fire at a van by which he was travelling in Hebbugodi police station limits on the outskirts of the city on Saturday. The police said the incident occurred around 6.30 a.m. near the Muneshwara Betta temple in 2nd Phase, Electronics City. Six persons, who came in a multi-utility vehicle, intercepted a van by which Krishnappa and Jaikumar were travelling. The armed men, who were under the impression that their rival Ramesh was travelling by the van, opened fire at the vehicle. As Krishnappa, an agriculturist and a resident of Shanthipura, opened the van door, a bullet hit him in his leg. The armed men also attacked Krishnappa with swords and choppers and sped away in their vehicle. According to the police, "Bullet" Nagaraj of Chikkanagamangala had rivalry with Ramesh, a real estate agent and a resident of Shanthipura. Nagaraj and his accomplices had planned to eliminate Ramesh. After Ramesh and his friends, Krishnappa and Jaikumar, left Shanthipura in his van in the early hours of Saturday, Nagaraj and his accomplices trailed them in a multi-utility vehicle. But they had not noticed that Ramesh had got down from the vehicle after travelling some distance.
