Two hurt in Chandni Chowk fire

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: At least two young men were injured in a fire that broke out in a four-storey building at Bhagirath Palace in the Chandni Chowk area on Saturday.

According to a Fire Department spokesman, the fire broke out around 5 p.m. and soon engulfed the first, second and third floors of the building. At that time, over half-a-dozen people were inside. Two of them, S. N. Verma and Chhotu, sustained about 40 per cent and 60 per cent burns respectively.

Local residents rescued some of those trapped in the building, while a couple of them leapt off the windows and escaped with minor bruises. The two injured were rushed to JP Hospital.
